This course runs over three days and is designed as an introduction to psychometric testing. Focussing on ability and aptitude testing, the course provides a thorough grounding in the principles, construction and uses of these tests.

It is suitable for:

Steps to successful completion of the programme:

  • Complete the pre-course distance learning package
  • Show understanding of the main points by a process of continuous assessment during the course
  • Demonstrate competence in practical work and fieldwork following the three day workshop

  • Test administration and scoring including administration of online tests
  • Interpretation and feedback of test results
  • Use of tests in recruitment and selection
  • Information and recommendations for sifting within the selection process

  • Ethics of test supply
  • Construction and development of tests
  • Reliability and validity
  • Comparison of a range of UK tests currently available
  • Familiarity with OPP tests, including The ABLE Series, Destiny Series and Critical Reasoning Skills Series

This course involves evening work. Following the three days training there is fieldwork set by your trainer which forms part of the qualification.


Prerequisites

Ahead of the course, the following should be completed:

  • On-line distance learning package on CD-ROM, covering the basic concepts in ability testing and test administration
  • Study materials covering statistical concepts
