This three-day course with a two-day follow-up qualifies you to administer and provide feedback on the MBTI Step I instrument.

It is suitable for:

  • Human resource specialists
  • Training and organisational development specialists
  • Career counsellors
  • Line managers and consultants
  • Anyone who wants to use the MBTI instrument

Steps to successful completion of the programme:

  • Successful completion of the MBTI interpretation and feedback session
  • Completion of the fieldwork between Parts One and Two of the training
  • Successful completion of the multiple-choice question paper
  • Completion of essay questions, although if you score 80% or more in the multiple-choice paper, you are exempt from this

Content

The workshop uses a mix of exercises, group work, lectures and visual presentations to explore the theory and practice of personality type, including:

  • Understanding your type
  • Interpreting type
  • Hand scoring
  • Personality: type versus trait
  • Type dynamics
  • Reliability and validity
  • Feedback and interpretation skills
  • Contracting and administration issues
  • Ethical issues
  • Multiple-choice examination

Prerequisites

You will be expected to complete the following in advance of the workshop:

  • Read sections of the MBTI User's Guide, which will help you to navigate through the key MBTI resources
  • Complete the MBTI Step I questionnaire and receive feedback from a qualified user. We can arrange this at OPP or provide details of local practitioners
  • Watch a CD-ROM showing a model feedback session

You will be expected to complete the following in advance of Part Two of the course, which takes place about four to six weeks later:

  • Practice using the MBTI Step I instrument and be ready to discuss your experiences
  • Prepare for the multiple-choice examination
