Job title: Support Consultant
Reports to: Implementation and Delivery Manager
Overall purpose:
OPP® Learning is a major division of OPP Limited, experts in Business Psychology.
OPP trains its customers in a wide range of well-known personality instruments, including MBTI® and 16PF® and qualifies participants in BPS programmes, such as Level A and B.
The purpose of this role is to assist in the ongoing delivery and development of OPP's training programmes. In particular, the role is expected to provide observation and marking services, including co-ordination of these processes. In addition, the role will join the Consultancy Helpdesk Team, providing advice to and answering the questions of delegates who call in. The opportunity to qualify in a range of OPP's instruments is provided as part of the development in the role. There is also the opportunity to make progress under supervision toward chartership as an occupational psychologist.
This role would be ideal for a Masters-level graduate in Occupational Psychology wishing to gain or extend experience in industry and with OPP.
The person should show potential to develop to run courses and progress toward Consultant and eventually Lead Consultant, or alternative career paths in OPP. Development into such roles is dependent on progress shown and the availability of positions.
Principal accountabilities:
Provides observations and marking services in relation to OPP's courses and provides customer support, advice and follow up services as part of the Consultancy Helpdesk team on a regular basis.
As a core member of the Learning Design and Delivery team, participates in activities and meetings of the team, regarding the development of the business of OPP, taking on special projects, (such as research for new areas of business and competitive comparisons)
Refers appropriately to the Implementation and Development Manager for discretionary decisions relating to course standards, ethical judgement calls and those with impact on profitability
- Training
- Provides services up to a level of 70% chargeable days in relation to OPP Qualifying workshops, comprising:
- observation of course participants as they give feedback and providing them with feedback on their feedback skills against criteria
- office based marking
- consultancy helpdesk service, as applicable.
- Observes, assesses and provides feedback to course delegates over the full range of OPP courses, on their feedback skills
- Provides marking services on several of OPP's courses (Level A, Level B and MBTI Qualifying essay retakes) and if required manages the marking programme for at least one major course, recommending improvements to the process
- Non-delivery work is expected to take place in OPP offices, to maintain an office presence for the Learning Design and Delivery Team
- Course Development
- Works with Consultants and Lead Consultants to ensure courses are developed to incorporate new technology, new tests, trainer and participant feedback
- Assists in the development of new courses, as required as a member of the training team
- In developing new courses, designs and writes new materials and trainer manuals as requested by Consultant or Lead Consultant and agreed with the Implementation and Development manager
- In-house clients
- Assists in modifications to course formats, for example: splitting courses, shortening or lengthening days, using the clients trained staff as observers and so on.
- Delivers training services described above at sites in the UK and at times abroad as requested by clients
- Practice Management
- Provides product training and familiarisation for OPP staff
- Provides feedback to OPP staff or potential recruits on OPP products
- Contributes to marketing activities, writing articles, attending conferences
- Contributes to providing telephone support to customers as required on a scheduled and ad hoc basis (Consultancy Helpdesk)
- Organises marketing and informative events, such as graduate conferences or similar events that OPP may run.
- Attends quarterly training team meetings and participates generally in the training team environment
Carry out other such duties as may reasonably be required, commensurate with the grade of this post
